A recent transplant to the DMV, this is Elizabeth Childers’ first season with Gin Dance Company. Elizabeth was introduced to dance at the age of six where she studied competitive Scottish highland dance. At age twelve, she began taking ballet classes with Chris Meneer of Children’s Ballet Theatre in Akron, Ohio. She continued her dance studies at Mercyhurst University and upon graduation, Elizabeth performed as a soloist with Ballet Theatre of Ohio. In 2011, Elizabeth moved to Arizona to perform and attend graduate school. In May 2015, Elizabeth earned her MFA in Dance from the University of Arizona.
Elizabeth has attended numerous workshops and intensives including Ballet Idaho, The University of South Carolina, The Jose Limon Summer Intensive, and The Salzburg International Ballet Academy in Salzburg, Austria. Elizabeth was a professional company member with Tucson-based contemporary dance company, Artifact Dance Project, for two years before moving to Alexandria. When she is not dancing, Elizabeth is the full-time Campus Manager for the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership and Capitol Post in Old Town Alexandria. Elizabeth also serves as faculty at BalletNova where she teaches adult Contemporary dance. Elizabeth has been a Gin Dance Company Member since 2016.
