Meet Roy Cerrillo

Roy was born and raised in Mexico, Roy began his classical dance and jazz training with the “Danza Ziian” company, where he performed main roles in numerous stages including the National School of the Performing Arts and the renowned “Teatro de la Danza” in Mexico City.

He graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Computer Science Engineering and a minor in Classical Dance from the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education in Mexico’s capital, where he participated in multiple Dance Festivals. During this time, he was acknowledged with a number of awards like the best male dancer and best choreography.

Roy has trained and worked under the direction of many dancers and choreographers, such as Patty Arreola, Alejandro Hernandez, Maurice Johnson, Pedro Garcia (Panchito), Helen Hayes, Rada Morales, Paul Wegner and Constance Walsh, to mention a few.

He has performed in productions like “Swan Lake”, “The Nutcracker”, “Don Quixote” and “Les Sylphides” among others. Roy’s dance training also incorporates contemporary and hip-hop styles. He is currently a faculty member of BalletNova Center for Dance and has participated in many of their winter and spring shows.  Roy has been a Gin Dance Company member since 2011.
