Yun Liang, a native of Brooklyn, New York, is trained in ballet, modern, contemporary, hip hop, and Chinese folk dance. She began her dance education at the School of American Ballet and Ballet Academy East, where she had the privilege of working alongside celebrated dancers and choreographers of New York City Ballet including Darla Hoover, Daniel Ulbricht and Ashley Boulder. She also attended summer intensives at the American Ballet Theatre and Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet.
In 2010, Yun was awarded a scholarship to train at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, where she explored Horton and modern dance. Alongside her dedication to ballet and modern, Yun is passionate about traditional Chinese folk dance. She has performed and competed in numerous folk dance competitions, winning first place in the senior division of the Youth Talent and Arts Competition at the Herald Mission Center.
Yun has embarked on choreography and teaching endeavors, including choreographing the musical Zombie Prom and serving as a teaching assistant at the American Ballet Theater’s Young Dancer Summer Workshop. Yun is thrilled to begin a new chapter of her dance career in DC and has been a member of Gin Dance Company since June 2023.
