‘Six Degrees’

Some great photos from our “Six Degrees” performances at the Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival last weekend!

‘Six Degrees’ – Choreographed by Shu-Chen Cuff, Gin Dance Company as a featured performer at the 2015 Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival on May 16 & 17, 2015 which took place at the Reston Town Square Park in the Reston Town Center.  This event commemorated Sculpturer Patrick Dougherty’s newest project at Reston Town Square Park. Just as the Dougherty sculpture is comprised of individual saplings intertwining with each other to give shape and form to an overall structure bringing a level of meaning and purpose that any one sapling could never have done on it’s own. Shu-Chen Cuff explores through her choreography of Six Degrees how we, as individuals, intertwine our lives with those around us, and they with those around them, and so on until we form a network that gives meaning, structure and purpose that any one individual could never have accomplished on their own.  Shu-Chen brought in her Gin Dance Company Dancers along with an extended cast.  Check out the video: ‘Six Degrees’

Gin Dance Company (GDC) is humbled and thrilled to be will be a featured performer at the 2015 Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival presenting our new work, Six Degrees, in response to extraordinary artist Patrick Dougherty’s amazing sculpture which will be installed at the Reston Town Square Park.  Just as the Dougherty sculpture is comprised of individual saplings intertwining with each other to give shape and form to an overall structure bringing a level of meaning and purpose that any one sapling could never have done on it’s own.  I explores through my choreography of Six Degrees how we, as individuals, intertwine our lives with those around us, and they with those around them, and so on until we form a network that gives meaning, structure and purpose that any one individual could never have accomplished on their own.  I will bring in Gin Dance Company Dancers along with an extended cast that will transform Reston Town Square Park into a living theatrical experience not to be missed. The performances will be on May 16, at 1:00 p.m. and on May 17, at 11:00 a.m.
